Dates: October 29-31, 1935
Location: San Francisco
Player Characters: The Silver Ghost
Guest NPCs: Jack the Ripper
Drawn by a newspaper advertisement seeking his help, the Silver Ghost visits scientists Darius Gaizer and his grandson Brendan. Back in England in 1888, Darius captured Jack the Ripper and placed him in stasis in a cryogenic sleep device of his own invention. A criminal named Evan Sabre has kidnapped Brendan’s fiancee and compelled the Gaizer’s to release the Ripper — who has picked up right where he left off, already earning the sobriquet “the Bloodletter” in San Francisco newspapers.
Using his skills at disguise, hypnosis, and stealth — along with a pair of .45s — the Silver Ghost rescues Brendan’s fiancee, compels Sabre to reveal the Ripper’s hiding place, and then tracks down and dispatches the Ripper once and for all. Sabre is arrested and sent to jail.
Elements of Note
This was the first appearance of Evan Sabre, as well as the Gaizers and their cryogenic sleep device — later dubbed the geosomnabolic chamber.
This is the adventure that started it all. It was originally titled “Whitechapel by the Bay,” and was also adapted into a short story titled “Age of Fear” by the Silver Ghost’s player, Joe Medina.
