Over the years, the Chamber has seen a vast and remarkable cast of characters. They fall into three general categories:
Player Characters (PCs, in standard RPG parlance) are characters created and run by the various individuals who have played the game over the years.
The PC listing pages on the site note a “status” for each character:
- Active means that character is still participating in the game, taking part in new adventures.
- Inactive means that character isn’t participating right now, but could at some time in the future.
- Retired means that character is alive somewhere in the game world, but isn’t taking part in adventures any more.
- Deceased means that character has crossed over. We (probably!) won’t see them again.
Non-Player Characters (NPCs) are characters created and run by the creator of the game. They can be friends, foes, allies, enemies, walk-ons, family, contacts, or take just about any role needed by the story. Some are seen only once; others have become recurring characters, appearing in many adventures.
Guest Stars are a special sort of NPC in the Chamber — characters who were originally created by others and who have been borrowed for the game. They include famous pulp and film characters, characters who have appeared in television or comics, or wherever the GM’s saw fit to borrow them from!
